  • Andy James, Joins Bluware as VP of Cloud Delivery Services

HOUSTON, TX – February 11, 2019 – Bluware, a global leader in petrotechnical software innovation, is pleased to announce that industry veteran, Andy James, will be joining the team in the role of Vice President of Cloud Delivery Services.

With extensive experience leading highly successful organizations through structured commercialization and product development processes such as Agile and Pragmatic, Mr. James will be an integral part of helping Bluware develop its Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that provides E&P operators with cutting edge technology and developer tools to enable cloud computing and machine learning on seismic datasets.

In his 30-year tenure working exclusively in the oil and gas industry for companies such as IHS Markit, Seismic Micro-Technology (SMT), and Halliburton, Mr. James has a proven track-record of building highly motivated teams focused on delivering valuable products to solve E&P workflow and data management challenges. The vast majority of his career was spent within the geophysical software and platform development domain specifically supporting robust computational and 3D visualization seismic data interpretation and simulation workflows.

“We are delighted to have Andy’s knowledge and technology expertise to help us realize our mission of getting seismic to the cloud. His deep experience and intimate understanding of how our clients intend to use seismic data will greatly improve the workflows and product functionality we incorporate in our platform,” said Dan Piette, CEO of Bluware.

In his new role, Mr. James will be responsible for managing a portfolio of technology including proprietary compression and seismic data streaming services that will allow oil companies to cost-effectively utilize the cloud for seismic data storage, and to rapidly run processing and interpretation workflows in the cloud that seamlessly leverage existing investments in mainstream applications such as Petrel and DecisionSpace.

“I’m excited to join the Bluware team on their quest to transform the way the industry uses seismic data. Historically geophysical workflows are some of the most computationally intense – right up there with weather prediction simulations – and so there is a real need to change the pace of these often cumbersome processes. Bluware’s technology is absolutely critical, and will unlock greater collaboration and speed at a time when the industry is anxious to realize the full potential on its data investments,” commented Mr. James.
